In the Buyer’s Eye — All Eyes on Lanai

As we are all experiencing, travel is ramping up at lightning speed. What we’re finding is that while many people are ready to dive back in to unrestricted travel, others are more cautious and have varying comfort levels. More than ever, it’s important to listen to the client and ask the right questions so we can craft the perfect experience for all members of their groups.

A common request now is for trips within the US. Luckily, there are plenty of options to choose from within our beautiful country. The US offers an abundance of five-star city escapes, secluded beach resorts, mountaintop getaways, and relaxing spa retreats. We can plan incredible, impactful, and memorable trips anywhere within the US, but one of my favorite destinations for groups of all kinds is Lanai, Hawaii.

In Case You Missed It: In the Buyer’s Eye – Celebración de México

Pacific Paradise

Hawaii’s smallest inhabited island, Lanai is only nine miles west of Maui. It is 141 square miles with a mere 30 miles of paved roads. Still, the so-called Pineapple Island (the whole island used to be a pineapple plantation!) is a tropical playground with a distinct personality and charm, almost like a step back in time. There is something for everyone thanks to the dichotomy of luxurious resorts and off-road adventures.

Being such a small island, you may be surprised to learn that there are not one but two Four Seasons resorts to choose from. One is family-friendly while the other is adults-only, but both offer a unique taste of Hawaiian paradise.

Four Seasons Resort Lanai

Set on a high cliff above Hulopoe Bay on the southeastern coast of the island, Four Seasons Resort Lanai offers 213 guest rooms and impeccable botanical gardens dotted with streams, ponds, and waterfalls. Two pools, a beautiful beach, a serene spa, and a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course await.

Another “star” of the resort is the new Lanai Observatory which offers an astrotourism experience for resort guests, Lanai residents, and students, taking stargazing to a new level. For groups looking to immerse themselves in the local culture, take advantage of the resort’s Love Lanai Cultural Advisors. From guided hikes and hands-on workshops to a collection of art and artifacts right onsite, there are many ways to learn about Lanai’s heritage and wahi pana (storied places).

While family incentive trips may not be the norm, they are being requested more often after many family vacations were paused during the pandemic. Whether the plan is to design a full family-friendly incentive or just allow the option to bring children, finding the right location is important. Four Seasons Resort Lanai is absolutely one to consider thanks to the complimentary Kids of All Seasons program offering a wide range of daily indoor and outdoor activities for ages 5-12.

Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort

Another common request now is for the ultimate rest and relaxation experience, for somewhere surreal with peaceful grounds allowing guests to fully recharge, refresh, and reenergize. After all the stress and uncertainty of the past few years, it’s hardly surprising that groups are ready for some TLC. In fact, I would happily join them!

Luckily, Lanai has a solution for that, too: Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort is ready and waiting for guests ages 16 and up. This eco-sensitive, open-air island sanctuary offers 102 hypnotic accommodations along with enhancing, modern well-being experiences that allow guests to embark upon a curative journey of personal transformation based on individual intentions. Treat the mind, body, and soul through spa treatments, fitness and wellness classes, island activities, and more.

Sensei Lanai is located hillside in the center of the island, and the stunning panoramic mountain views mean you hardly miss the beach, plus there are secluded pools and soaking tubs throughout the property. Still, guests who simply must feel the sand between their toes are welcome to visit the beach at Four Seasons Resort Lanai.
